What a HydraFacial Does for Dull, Dry, or Congested Skin

Lately, you might have noticed:

  • Makeup that clings to dry, flaky patches
  • Clogged pores that no scrub at home seems to reach
  • A first facial on your mind, and no idea what to expect

A HydraFacial is a professional facial done with a handheld tip that uses gentle suction and swirling liquid. In one visit it cleanses, peels away dead skin, clears your pores, and washes on hydrating serums.

After yours, you can look forward to:

Skin that looks and feels more hydrated after one visit, and cleaner too, once suction lifts out what the peel loosens

A treatment fitted to your skin, with a booster serum for one concern, LED light, or lymphatic drainage in the higher tiers

A short after-effect, since any redness or tightness is temporary

An easy fit for your calendar, as monthly upkeep, a cleansing prep before a peel or injectable, or a fresh start a few days before an event

Signature, Deluxe, or Platinum? HydraFacial Treatment Tiers, Cost, and Memberships

Whichever you choose, your aesthetician talks through your skin with you, fits the treatment to it, and explains each step as she goes. Torn between two? Call before you book and ask which suits you.

What a single visit costs comes down to your tier and any add-on. If you’d like to come monthly, each membership includes one HydraFacial of its tier every month and 15% off retail products, with a 12-month commitment. You’ll find the full terms on our HydraFacial memberships page.

Your HydraFacial Appointment in Franklin, and the Day After

  • You book online or by phone. Mention any recent treatments, so we can plan around them.
  • Your aesthetician talks through your skin with you. That’s how your treatment gets fitted to it.
  • She cleanses, applies a gentle peel, and uses suction to clear your pores. The peel loosens what’s clogging them.
  • Next come the hydrating serums, with a booster if your tier has one.
  • Deluxe and Platinum finish with LED light, and Platinum adds lymphatic drainage.

Afterward, wear sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher. Any redness or tightness you notice is temporary.

I had a Hydrafacial done by Caroline. She was so wonderful and walked me through the whole process as it was my first experience with a facial. After consultation, she was able to customize my treatment to best fit what I needed.

Can a HydraFacial Irritate Sensitive Skin?

Yes, briefly. A HydraFacial works only on the skin’s surface, and its machine is exempt from FDA clearance. The usual after-effects are irritation, tightness, or redness where it was done, usually gone within 72 hours, depending on how sensitive your skin is.

If your skin is sensitive or prone to rosacea, the treatment can be made gentler, with lower suction and milder solutions.

Breakouts aren’t listed as a side effect, but they aren’t ruled out either. Active breakouts wait until they settle, and if you break out easily, say so first.

Before you start, tell your aesthetician about your skin, your medicines, and any recent treatments, or call first to ask.

Who should wait or check first before a HydraFacial?

Wait on a HydraFacial if:

  • You’re pregnant or breastfeeding. It hasn’t been evaluated in pregnancy, breastfeeding, or children.
  • You have an active skin problem where it would go: active or inflamed acne, eczema or dermatitis, a rash, psoriasis, sunburned or injured skin, an active cold sore, open sores, a skin infection, or fragile skin.
  • You have a growth or spot that hasn’t been explained.
  • You’ve taken isotretinoin in the last 6 months.
  • You’re allergic to any ingredient in the solutions.

Check first with the clinician who treats you if you have:

  • An autoimmune disease, cancer, a blood-vessel condition, or a contagious illness
  • Medicines that thin or weaken the skin, such as immune-suppressing drugs, chemotherapy, long-term antibiotics like tetracyclines, blood thinners, or long-term steroids

If you get cold sores, you may need preventive medicine before your visit.

The usual ones are mild irritation, tightness, or redness where it was done, and they usually pass within 72 hours. If irritation becomes severe or you think you’re having an allergic reaction, the treatment stops, and you should seek medical advice.

Afterward, use sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher.

Skin differs from person to person. For thin or sensitive skin, including rosacea, the treatment can use lower suction, lighter pressure, and gentler solutions.

If rosacea or another skin problem is flaring where it would go, your HydraFacial waits until it settles. Tell your aesthetician about your skin before she starts.

More Questions About HydraFacials

How long does a HydraFacial last, and how often should I come?

A HydraFacial is upkeep, not a lasting change. It works on the surface of your skin, cleansing, exfoliating, and hydrating, so that fresh, clean feeling doesn’t stay for good. Many people book about once a month to keep it up, and every tier has a monthly membership if that rhythm suits you.

How is a HydraFacial different from a regular facial?

Our customized facials are shaped around your skin and what it needs. A HydraFacial adds a machine: its handheld tip uses suction to clear your pores and washes hydrating serums onto your skin. Other hydradermabrasion machines exist, including one with a diamond tip, and the one we use is the HydraFacial.

Can a HydraFacial treat acne, scars, or wrinkles?

No. A HydraFacial is a facial for the skin’s surface, not a treatment for acne, scars, or wrinkles, and active acne needs to settle before you have one. The boosters in Deluxe and Platinum aim at how fine lines or dark spots look. For scars or deeper lines, ask us about our microneedling treatment or our chemical peel treatments.

Can I get a HydraFacial before an event, or with wrinkle relaxers or filler?

Yes, with some timing. Before an event, book a few days ahead, since any redness or tightness usually settles within 72 hours. After wrinkle relaxers or filler, wait 14 days; after a medical-grade peel or resurfacing, wait 30. After a laser treatment or surgery, wait until you’ve fully healed and the clinician who treated you agrees. Mention recent treatments when you book.

Can men get a HydraFacial?

Yes. Men book facials with us too, some for the very first time. Nothing about a HydraFacial changes for men: the steps, the three tiers, and who should wait are the same for everyone. If you’ve never had a facial, your aesthetician explains each step as she goes.
